Blokes With Bad Habits

Before their first goodnight kiss,
He leaned in closer to his Miss.
As the birds began to chirp,
He let out a most thunderous burp.

Another man at a business meeting,
Intent on providing a memorable greeting.
When suddenly he wore a silly grin,
As he tried to keep from breaking wind.

Bossy Bradley always had his way,
Or else he would refuse to play.
Once when his parents tried to discipline him,
He shipped them off to Siberia on a whim.

Looks and charm, this guy had it all,
Though one flaw would cause his downfall.
At a close glance, the girls would grow colder,
As they were overcome by his ghastly body odor.

  2. Hi Julie - lovely poem .. and men and their habits .. socks often .. I read one - where the master was happily teaching his class .. there was a huge breaking of wind - the class of boys collapsed in a heap of laughter, the master summoned said boy to the front .. saying - whoever your parents are .. they should know better and taught you to behave properly ... somewhat sheepishly his own son declared himself ..

Such is life - cheers Hilary

  3. It could have been his vegetarian diet with too many beans that ruined his social life.

  4. Nothing wrong with a really good burp but can't handle the body odor.

  5. My brother explained it years ago: "When I work I grunt. When I grunt, I fart."

  6. Burps, odor, parent shipping and a fart. Were they all found at Wal-Mart?

  8. You've covered all the Bad Habits and charmed the 10 year old boys who will memorize and repeat all of this! LOL

  10. Oh boy. Every now and then I think I'd really to have a boyfriend. Then I read something like this and think, "Maybe not."

    :) Funny stuff Julie!

  12. So, his date may have been a tart.
Was that any excuse for him to fart?

  13. She screamed, "Ewwww! Stop picking your toes!"
So he put on his socks and starting picking his nose.

  16. Aww, we ain't THAT bad.

    Alright, so maybe we are.

But if you give us our own room in the basement with a case of beer and a TV that gets all the football games, you don't gotta see us again until you want to... if you want to.

  17. Oh Boy! That was fun, and body odor is terrible when left unwashed for days on end...

  18. Too funny and you forgot when they scratch their ass or something else...baseball style

  20. LOL that would be a kiss to remember I guess. So gross.

  21. Yvonne - Fortunately, these are just a few extreme examples. Thanks Yvonne!

Delores - Hahaha! Well, maybe some men are!

Hilary - What a great story! Thanks Hilary!

Arleen - Reminds me of the campfire scene in Blazing Saddles!

Alex - I think we all feel better after a good burp. Body odor, not so much!

Joanne - Your brother really tells it like it is! Very funny, Joanne!

Pat - Yes, they were all at Walmart, shopping for a sale on Pop Tarts!

Ava - There's always lots of fun going on at your place! Thanks Ava!

Lee - I think you're confused, Lee. My blog might attract some men and women who tend to behave like ten year old boys. Sadly, that includes me on some days, but I appreciate the thought!

SL - Well, there are still plenty of good ones out there! Thanks for co-hosting, SL!

Robin - They older I get, the more I realize that many men and women often share the same bad habits. The difference is, the men don't hold grudges about them! You'll find your Prince Charming, Robin!

Madhumita - Thank you so much!

Al - Loved both of your poems! Toe picking may trump nose picking, but we really should take a vote on it. The good news is that we normally don't have to worry about seeing drivers picking their toes on the road.

  22. Ha-bad habits might be an understatement! Fun post today...I'm visiting from the A-Z. Best of luck working your way through the alphabet.

  23. Trouble is these things can't always be helped, well maybe the body odour, but burps and farts not so easy, they can sneak up on people, not just men either.

    1. Joyce - It's great to see another A to Z participant! I'll try to head over later today!

Jo - It's true that they are always sneaky and unwanted visitors! It could happen to any one of us!

  24. Joanne - Thanks so much!

Chrys - Especially when it lingers in the room. Thanks for being an A to Z minion, Chrys!

Stephen - Of course I was just writing about stereotypes. I know you're too much of a gentleman to even think about doing any of those things in public! I would never send you off to the basement, Stephen!

Lisa - At that point, it starts seeping into the furniture. Thanks Lisa!

Birgit - Aren't they scratching something else at baseball games?! The spitting is also a nice touch.

Dixie - You needn't ever be afraid here, though 'C' may be a bit scarier!

Julie - I got very sick on a boat ride with my sorority. So sick that my date had to pull over three times on our way home. When he walked me to the door, he went in for a goodnight kiss, and I politely pulled away. If I had gone through with it, now that would've been GROSS! I probably should've written that under Blondes With Bad Habits!

  34. You nailed it, Julie!
The body odor is a NO-NO!
Some men need to learn to "SCRUB ALL THE VITAL SPOTS THOROUGHLY" when they wash. LOL
