There's Trouble In Twos

Table for two,
They sat and stared.
Toasted to time gone by,
Too many wounds to repair,
Too hopeless to even try.

There there don't you cry,
Their hands nearly touched.
Then they couldn't stay apart,
Today not so much.

There's trouble in twos,
Their folks would say.
Two kids, two cars,
Too many bills to pay.

Two tables down,
They were held in a trance.
The waiter never took their order.
Too focused on romance.

The band played until dawn,
Two by two left feet in disarray.
Too bad it finally hit them,
The married brother and sister were gay.

  2. Too twisted (not really, but I did love the twist and tried to stick with the Ts. See why I don't do poetry :)

  6. I was not expecting this end. Your imagination is very acute to have attached a nice ( but sad ending) to a beautiful poem.

  16. Great poem. I'm glad I dropped by. From another empty nester with a son who has a Post grad in English law, who is now training to be a solicitor.
