Lost In Lust

Lost in lust,
Locked in a trance.
Lingering effects,
Long distance romance.

Last one to call,
Lights out and then.
Lying miles apart,
Listening to faint whispers again.

Letter arrives the next day,
Listing the others he's misled.
Laughing, "They must be mistaken,
Lackeys are nuts in the head."

Loneliness looms in,
Longing to see her beau.
Life was so cruel,
Love interest was a gigolo.

  14. This must be to all the women who get taken in by the internet or mail where these jerks ask for money and then boom-they are gone. Great poem-well done

  15. This poem makes me feel so nostalgic. It could have been written by dear Madam Z, who stopped blogging several years ago. I remember her writing something with a very similar meter, but I couldn't find it in her blog. I wish I could show her your poem.

  16. What a poem. I started off feeling nostalgic and hopefully romantic. Then I was envisioning the difficulties of a long distance relationship. Then you zapped with with your twist ending. He is a cad, a loser, a cheat. You have an extraordinary way with words. They flow so well from each stanza to the next. Loved the L poem.

  17. GEM JULIE ~
Saw the blog bit title appear in my Dashboard and hurried over, thinking your blog had gone "Adult Content".

Nuts! No pictures. Nuttin' but romance gone bad. (Actually, I'm OK with bad romance but... I'd prefer it illustrated. No imagination here, ya see?)

  18. Elizabeth - Thank you so much, Elizabeth!

Birgit - It's a combination of both, and a parody on sappy love poems. Thanks Birgit!

Dixie - I couldn't agree with you more!

Gorilla - I'm not familiar with Madam Z, but I would love to read her poem. Let me know if you find it. Thanks for offering to share this with her, Gorilla!

Melissa - I really appreciate your kind words, Melissa! Thank you for brightening my day!

Stephen - I'm sorry to disappoint you. Since you mentioned "Bad Romance," you can just picture Lady Gaga, or is Jessica Rabbit more your type?

  19. Oh... Jessica Rabbit, of course!
You know, she's not bad. She's just drawn that way.

  20. Ouch. So it goes - all too often. This one was like a rollercoaster with a long drop at the end. Great L, Julie.

    1. Robyn - Great analogy, Robyn! I suppose this is how it would feel to receive this kind of news from someone that you loved and trusted. This feeling reminds me of the old skit on the Carol Burnett Show, "As The Stomach turns!" Thanks Robyn!
